This dialogue has become so famous that on reading it, the accent that comes from inside of any Bollywood fan is Patekar’s.
There have been numerous other dialogues that originated from the vocals of Patekar and made it to the mainstream of this industry. People usually use Patekar’s dialogues to mock others or to roast the personality himself, but despite of his short-temper, he has always been respected in his line of industry ever since.
A few lesser known facts about this legendary actor are mentioned below.
1. Patekar’s father’s textile business collapsed when he was of a mere age of 12. Due to this, Patekar had to take up part-time work with an artist cum designer of publicity materials in Mumbai. At that time, he earned 35 bucks a day, along with one meal.
2. Patekar passed out of Sir J.J. Institute of Applied Arts, Mumbai in 1971, and joined as a visualizer at an advertising firm.
3. He debuted his acting career from Gaman in 1978, but then went into Marathi film line by acting in movies like Sinhasan, Bhalu, Raghu Maina, etc.
4. It was late in 1990s that his acting got a vivid recognition through the movie, Parinda.
5. He met Neelkanti (his X-wife) on one of the sets of his Marathi movies to whom he got married. The marriage wasn’t successful and thus, the couple went for a divorce. Patekar has a son with Neelkanti named Malhar. Nana Patekar left Neelkanti for the actresss Deepti Naval. Unfortunately, this relationship didn’t go smooth either. Nana Patekar blames himself for this turmoil in his love life by stating that “He wanted all his toys in front of him all the time.”
6. One of Patekar’s Marathi plays is still running after 13 years of its launch.
7. Nana Patekar was also the voice behind Shere Khan in the Hindi dubbed version of Jungle Book Shōnen Mowgli.
8. Nana Patekar didn’t intentionally choose the acting career. He just went to see a friend on the rehearsal sets in the 70’s, and was offered a role in the play. He even bagged the Best Actor Award for that role, and has been a natural actor ever since.
9. Nana Patekar also tried his hands in direction with the movie, Prahaar: The Final Attack in 1981. It was the only movie that he directed in his lifetime, though he always talks of directing another movie.
10. He is the only actor in the history of television having Filmfare Awards in Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, as well as Best Villain categories altogether.
11. Nana Patekar has also been awarded Padma Shri Award, which is considered to be India’s fourth highest civilian honour.
12. For his role as an Army officer in the movie, Prahaar: The Final Attack, Nana Patekar has been awarded an honorary Captain’s Rank by the Indian Army.
13. Nana Patekar also practices philanthropy. He even established an organization with his friend and co-actor, Makarand Anaspure, named Nam Foundation in 2015, which aims in providing aid to the farmers suffering from draught.
14. Nana Patekar has always been a little of a short-tempered guy. He had his differences with celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, and even with his former best-friend, Prakash Jha.
15. Nana Patekar is fond of cooking and even feeding his friends and family with his hands, just as a symbol of respect and love.
