Oscar-winning Hanks was in Australia while preparing for a movie when they felt respiratory trouble and tests showed they had the virus.
The American actor and his wife join a list of celebrities infected by the deadly virus, including the Italian Juventus star, Daniele Rogani, the Italian chief of staff, General Salvatore Farina, the owner of the Greek Olympiacos club, Evangelos Marinakis, and others.
